NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A man was arrested on drug and weapon charges after officers conducted a traffic stop near Manor Road and Warwick Boulevard.
On November 16, officers conducted the traffic stop on a white Chrysler driven by 28-year-old Donnell Whitehead Jr., that had expired license plates. As the officer approached Whitehead, an odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle.
While speaking to Whitehead, the officer noticed what appeared to be marijuana on the floorboard by his feet. A concealed handgun was also located in the waistband of his pants and police say Whitehead did not possess a concealed weapons permit.
Whitehead was charged with narcotics violations, weapon violations and driving with a suspended license.
