WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) – The wait is almost over. The big day for the return of the reimagined Big Bad Wolf coaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg has been set.

Busch Gardens announced its newest coaster, The Big Bad Wolf: The Wolf’s Revenge, will open to the public on May 23.

If you’re a member, you’re in luck. There will be member previews of the new ride May 16 through May 18.

The coaster is a tribute to the original Big Bad Wolf rollercoaster, which closed in 2009. The new inverted coaster has more than 2,500 feet of track and takes riders up to 40 miles per hour. The park says while it’s thrilling, it’s also perfect for kids. There is a minimum height requirement of 42 inches to ride with a supervising companion and 48 inches without.

The opening coincides with the 50th anniversary of the park, which opened in Williamsburg on May 16, 1975.

FUN EXTRA: Visitors who were born in May of 1975 will get FREE admission on May 16, 2025. To redeem the free ticket, guests can visit Guest Services upon arrival and present a valid photo ID.
