NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia International Tattoo will take over Scope Arena later this week, but some local children got a sneak peek at the performance Monday.
At Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters, the kids heard the music and even got the chance to learn to play the drums and then play alongside the performers.
Shannon Hood, director of integrative care with CHKD, said it’s important to bring normalcy to the kids who are getting treatment.
“I think the hospital is more than medicine,” Hood said, “and kids need more than medicine to get well. And I think this was the perfect medicine for today.”
Hood said seeing the kids come to life as the players arrived was fun to watch.
