Last week we went on a trip up to Illinois to see family. It was a good trip but busy. I got my Chicago hot dog and Italian beef. The dog was just ok, but the Italian beef was excellent. We returned on Thursday to some nice weather. However, the heat then built into the area from Friday into the weekend.

We went to the beach on Saturday. The temps were warm, the wind was strong at times, but the water temps were cold. I was surprised at how many kids actually got in the water. Yesterday, was nice for Easter. It was warm and humid for a while, but a subtle cool front slowly dropped in from the north. That created a little coolness, and the air dried out a bit. There was a pretty cool halo that formed around the sun during the afternoon. Take a look!

That happens when a band of cirrus clouds form at the right height and have the right depth. Then ice crystals in the clouds can refract the light and form a halo.
Today the front started out as a stationary front to our south. However, it was already moving north and turning into a warm front.

Meanwhile things are settling down over the central/southern U.S. after a stormy 24 hours.
We’ll have quiet weather here today as the front lifts north of the region by the afternoon. High temps will warm back up to the low 80s.

We’ll have partly cloudy skies for most of the day. Winds will be out of the southeast then south at 5-15mph. There will be a few gusts to 20mph near the shore. Other than a stray shower or sprinkle we’ll have no rain in the region. However, the humidity is definitely going back up again.

We’ll stay warm and humid tomorrow. High temps will be back in the lower 80s. However, tomorrow we’ll have a few showers and storms moving in from the west. This will be mainly in the afternoon.

We’ll have some more scattered showers and a few thunderstorms Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Things may pick up for a while before sunrise.

The latest trend is for the models to dry things out during the day Wednesday, but a few showers could linger into at least the midday hours. We will definitely cool down on Wednesday with high temps dropping down to the upper 60s and low 70s.

We’ll be dry on Thursday with partly cloudy skies and highs in the low 70s.
We need some rainfall. We had one day so far this month with a good soaking rain. The rest of the time the showers were scattered.

We could pick up about a quarter to a half an inch of rainfall over the next couple of days.

However, these showers are expected to be scattered as well. So we’ll see how much we get. We need it for the yards and the trees, but we also need to get a good washout of the pollen.
