SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Suffolk Police were called out to King’s Fork Middle School following an altercation between two students Monday morning.

The call was received just after 9 a.m. in reference to a person with a weapon, according to police. Officials at King’s Fork Middle School have since clarified to 10 On Your Side that a student stated that another student “reached for something” but there was not a report of a gun on the campus. Suffolk Police were contacted as a precautionary measure, according to school officials.

According to a news release from Suffolk Police, King’s Fork Middle School was placed on a hold while officers conducted a search inside and outside the school.

In a letter sent to parents and guardians about the incident, it explains that when a hold is initiated, students and staff are required to stay in their classrooms or stay out of access areas until the all-clear is announced.

Officers did not locate a weapon during their search.

There were also no injuries reported as a result of this incident.

According to the school, the students involved in the fight were separated immediately.

Suffolk Police gave the all-clear around 12:15 p.m. They said this is an ongoing investigation and there is no further information available at this time.

The letter from Principal Laguna Foster also stated that the students involved are being held
accountable in accordance with the school’s code of conduct.
