VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Atlantic Avenue Improvements project team is seeking the community’s input.

On Jan. 30, the team hosted an open house to detail future plans for the corridor and receive feedback. An online survey followed to determine what mattered most to Virginia Beach residents.

77% of the respondents shared positive reactions to the proposed improvements.

55% of the survey respondents expressed that the most important benefit is a clean, cohesive theme that enhances the Oceanfront experience for both visitors and residents.

52% emphasized the need for safer and more attractive multi-modal travel options, including biking, walking, scooters, cars and trolleys.

51% highlighted the importance of modern green infrastructure, including healthier plants, trees and newly designed planting beds.

39% valued increased community pride, with a focus on a world-class Oceanfront Resort ambiance.
