NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A two-alarm fire at the Broadway Nightclub on East Virginia Beach Boulevard in the early morning hours last Wednesday is now being investigated as “an arson incident,” a Norfolk Fire-Rescue official said.

The Norfolk Fire Marshal’s office is working with the Norfolk Police Department, but no arrests have been made, according to Norfolk Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief and Public Information Officer Glen Williams.

According to officials, crews were dispatched to Broadway Nightclub in the 5600 block of E. Virginia Beach Blvd. at 2:44 a.m. for the report of a commercial fire. A second alarm was initiated almost immediately.

Crews fought much of the fire from the outside of the building, and once they went inside, they did not find fire in the building.

Crews continued to put out the remaining fire and searched for hidden fire. The fire was marked under control at 3:19 a.m.

No one was injured.
