NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Norfolk SPCA Adoption Center & Veterinary Clinics is asking for help with donations after a litter of puppies were abandoned in North Carolina.

The puppies’ mother and sibling were shot and killed and the remaining litter were left to fend for themselves. One of them was shot in the leg and had bullet fragments shattered throughout his left rear ankle.

Every donation goes to their medical treatments to help rehabilitate the canines.

“Please, consider making a donation today,” a release states. “These puppies have already suffered so much, but with your support, we can help them recover and find the loving homes they deserve.”

Authorities in North Carolina are looking into the case to determine any suspects.
