VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A 17-year-old boy was seriously hurt after a fight at Kempsville High School.
Virginia Beach police responded to the high school around 7:20 p.m. Monday after reports of a fight. The incident occurred during a boys basketball game against Salem High School, and involved some of the players, the school district confirmed.
Kempsville High School’s principal sent the following message to basketball team parents Tuesday.
“I met with the team along with Coach Freeman and our SAC, Zach Wolff, this morning to let them know the decision about the last two games. The Kempsville High School boys basketball will play in post season play if they are seeded to play. Coach Freeman will communicate to the players their practice schedule moving into post season play.”
As a result of the fight, the principal said Monday night’s game against Salem and Tuesday’s game against Princess Anne will be forfeited.
