NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Tim Hortons® got its start in Canada, but is now one of North America’s largest restaurant chains, and the company just added a new location in Norfolk.

The new Tim Hortons restaurant at 472 N Military Highway has been open for a couple weeks, but it will have its grand opening celebration on Saturday, Feb. 22 beginning at 5 a.m.

The first 50 guests* in the drive-thru get free coffee for a year. The event will also feature special offers, including 99-cent any sized Hot or Iced Coffee and 10 Packs of Timbits® donut holes for $1, plus a free Hot Cocoa Bar.

“We are loving the opportunity to introduce ourselves to the community and also welcome people in Norfolk who already love Tim Hortons for our great coffee and range of innovative cold and hot beverages, our craveable baked goods and breakfast sandwiches, and the friendly service and convenience we’re known for,” said Tim Hortons U.S. President Katerina Glyptis, who will be attending the official Norfolk grand opening.

Tim Hortons® was founded in Canada in 1964 by one of the greatest hockey players of all time, Tim Horton.

There are now more than 5,700 locations across the globe, but the one in Norfolk is the only current location in Virginia.
