VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Beach replenishment efforts at the Oceanfront are progressing smoothly, with plans to add 950,000 cubic yards of sand along the shoreline between 15th Street and 45th Street.
The project boasts benefits like defending the coastline against storms and creating a better condition for recreation.
Although construction is underway, the beach remains open to the public, with caution advised to stay clear of designated orange safety-fenced areas.
To monitor progress on the beach replenishment, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has set up a dedicated page that provides updates and information on the project.
