VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia Beach City Council members are expected to get an update on Something in the Water Tuesday afternoon, just a week after members voted against giving festival organizers a notice of breach.

During the meeting, scheduled to take place at 4:30 p.m., city council will get a chance to hear about the festival’s progress leading up to its scheduled date in April. This will be the first weekly update city council will be getting from City Manager Patrick Duhaney, who is in regular contact with festival organizers.

On Jan. 3, Virginia Beach Mayor Bobby Dyer proposed a resolution for the council to consider a “material of breach” of their sponsorship agreement. Just a few days later, on Jan. 7, city council voted 8-2 against the proposal, opting instead to hear more updates on the festival.

“Lets get to a cure, and I think that’s the operative word that we have to do and show that we can put this together in a meaningful way, because it would have a profound economic impact on us,” Dyer said.

10 On Your Side will have more updates throughout the day.
