PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Overnight snow blanketed Hampton Roads Friday night. By the time most were waking up on Saturday morning, rain had converted it to slush.

Snowfall accumulation was variable across the region. Parts of Southern Virginia Beach and Chesapeake got less than an inch while some upper peninsula and Eastern Shore communities saw over 3 inches of precipitation.

By 9:30 a.m., temperatures were hovering around freezing.

The weather sparked closures and delays from the Southside to the Peninsula.
