PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Several schools and city services across the Hampton Roads region are impacted on Monday due to winter weather conditions.
Winter Storm Warnings will be in effect for areas north of Hampton Roads from Sunday afternoon through Tuesday morning. 3″-7″ of snow is possible Monday. According to our Super Doppler 10 team of meteorologists, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for most of the Hampton Roads cities. Around 1″ of snow is possible southside, with 1″-2″ for the Peninsula.

Chesapeake
All City of Chesapeake offices, courts, libraries and community centers will delay opening until 10 a.m. on Monday.
Chesapeake Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay on Monday.
Gloucester
Gloucester County Public Schools will be closed on Monday for all students and staff. All after-school activities, sports and clubs scheduled for Monday are canceled.
Hampton
Hampton City Schools and offices will be closed on Monday for all students and staff. This includes all after-school and evening activities.
Newport News
City of Newport News offices will open at 10 a.m. on Monday for non-essential employees and the public. Essential employees should report for work as scheduled.
Norfolk
Norfolk Public Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay on Monday, January 6, 2025. Essential personnel will report on time. Before and after school childcare will not be provided. All after-school activities will be cancelled.
City facilities and offices, including recreation centers, libraries and The Slover, will open at 11 a.m. Monday.
Tidewater Community College will open at 10 a.m. on Monday. Additionally, all in-person and virtual support services will resume at 10 a.m.
Northampton County
Northampton County Schools and buildings will be closed on Monday. Additionally, all activities and events are canceled.
Portsmouth
All City of Portsmouth schools and offices will operate on a two-hour delay on Monday.
Suffolk
Suffolk Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay for all students and staff on Monday. Suffolk Parks & Recreation Before-School programming is cancelled. After-School programming will operate as normal.
Suffolk City Offices will have a delayed opening of 10 a.m. on Monday.
The Mills E. Godwin, Jr. Courts Building advises that the courts will open at 10 a.m. on Monday.
Suffolk Transit advises no change in their operating schedule.
The North Suffolk Library and Morgan Memorial Library, as well as the East Suffolk Recreation Center and Curtis Milteer Recreation Center will open at 10 a.m. on Monday.
Sussex
All Sussex County Government offices will be closed on Monday.
Virginia Beach
All Virginia Beach City Public Schools and offices will operate on a 2-hour delay on Monday, Jan. 6. View the detailed information here on the school division website.

WJCC Schools are closed Monday for all students and staff. All school and extracurricular activities are canceled.
York County
All York County School Division schools and offices will be closed on Monday for all students and staff. All athletic and after-school activities are also canceled. Essential personnel should follow supervisor direction.
