NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Chesapeake man pled guilty today to wire fraud after using a company credit card to purchase more than $100,000 in personal expenses.
44-year-old Brandon Thompson was an administrator with a Virginia joint venture that worked with Sentara Hospital. Thompson’s responsibilities included purchasing equipment, implementing capital and operating budgets, and promoting cost containment and efficient use of facility resources. He worked with the company from June 2015 to February 2023.
From at least January 2018 through February 2023, Thompson used a company card for personal use including: his rent, groceries and wedding reception. And then later for his divorce attorney.
He also used the card for such luxury items as diamonds, airline tickets and an initiation fee for a country club membership.
Thompson is scheduled to be sentenced on May 9, 2025, and faces up to 20 years in prison.
