HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — A man was shot and killed and a woman was shot on Goldsboro Drive in Hampton Thursday evening, police said.

Hampton Police said they seek help in identifying the suspect in connection to what it is classifying as a homicide.

The call for the shooting came in around 7:07 p.m. in reference to a shooting in the 5100 block of Goldsboro Drive. When officers arrived, they found a 23-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds, and, moments later, they learned of a second victim, a 26-year-old woman found shot in the 5000 block of West Mercury Boulevard.

The man had life-threatening injuries and the woman non-life-threatening injuries, police said, and they were both taken to the hospital. The man died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

A preliminary investigation indicates that several people were “in a dispute” outside of a residence, and during that dispute, two people were shot, according to police, who believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no public threat.

The Hampton Police Division’s Major Crimes Unit are investigating the shooting.
