Shoppers are clamoring to get their hands on the iconic set
If you were around in the late ’80s and early ’90s, you probably remember a quirky product from tableware company Lenox: Spice Village, a set of 24 porcelain spice jars designed to look like miniature cottages. Lenox introduced the set in 1989 and discontinued it in 1993. In 2022, at the height of the cottagecore design craze, a TikToker found a full Spice Village set at a thrift store and the kitschy, vintage decor pieces saw a huge resurgence. Now, with original sets going for thousands of dollars online, Lenox has announced that Spice Village is coming back.
That’s right — soon, you’ll be able to buy tiny townhouses and chalets for your ginger and rosemary, straight from the original manufacturer. Lenox hasn’t announced whether Spice Village 2.0 will be modeled after the original set or if it’s going to get any modern upgrades, but fans of collectibles will almost certainly rush to get their hands on them either way. In fact, people are already pretty excited. On the Instagram post where Lenox announced the Spice Village comeback, people commented things like, “This is bigger than the Olympics” and “This is my Taylor Swift ticket drop.”

The Lenox Spice Village 2nd Edition doesn’t have an official release date yet, but you can sign up for email updates on the Lenox website to make sure you’ll be the first to hear about when Spice Village becomes available. And in the meantime, if you simply can’t wait to get your hands on tiny homes for your spices and herbs, you can still get Spice Village sets from the ’90s — if you’re willing to pay a premium.
