SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Suffolk has been awarded $1 million in funding for the G. Robert House Water Treatment Facility Membrane Replacement project.
Electrodialysis Reversal, or EDR, is a drinking water treatment process that “applies electrical current to electrodes allowing the membranes to reduce naturally occurring high levels of fluoride in drinking water.”
The funding will cover a portion of the replacement costs of the EDR membranes allowing Suffolk to continue to provide high quality drinking water to the residents of Suffolk and also regionally through the Western Tidewater Water Authority.
Congresswoman Jen Kiggans is expected to present the check to Suffolk Mayor Michael Duman on Aug. 12.
Other state and local dignitaries will be in attendance for the presentation.
