NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A 25-year-old man will serve jail time for pointing a gun at a sanitation worker in 2022.

Louis Arthur Lemon was sentenced to 10 months in jail for misdemeanor brandishing.

On Dec. 21, 2022, a sanitation worker did not collect Lemon’s recycling because he had improper materials in his recycling bend. Court documents show that Lemon to drove up to the worker’s truck, blocked her path, got out of his vehicle, and began yelling at her.

Despite the victim explaining why his recycling items could not be collected, lemon walked to his car, retrieved a gun and pointed it at her before he finally drove away.

Once Lemon was gone, the victim called 911 and reported what happened.

On Dec. 12, 2023, Judge Robert B. Rigney convicted Lemon of a brandishing charge during a bench trial.

“Brandishing a gun is a misdemeanor in Virginia, but it is an incredibly serious crime,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi. “Mr. Lemon threatened to shoot the victim for doing her job after she tried to help him. He has earned his lengthy jail sentence. We will continue to hold accountable people who commit gun crimes in our City.”
