VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Wildlife officials recently helped a seal that was stranded in Virginia Beach.

The Virginia Aquarium And Marine Science Center says the young gray seal in need of help was found Thursday at Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge.

Crews briefly took it back to the aquarium’s Stranding Response Center for a vitals check, and with help from The Nature Conservancy Virginia, they were able to release the seal near where other seals are known to hang out.
