CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — An adult and a child were seriously injured in a crash Monday morning on Interstate 264 in Chesapeake.

Virginia State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya said the crash happened on I-264 West near Greenwood Drive — this is at the Interstate 64 interchange in the Bowers Hill section.

Anaya said someone driving an Isuzu Rodeo overcorrected after going off the road, causing the vehicle to overturn several times and hit a guardrail.

The crash blocked all westbound lanes in the area for several hours during the morning commute. According to VDOT, the crash scene was cleared up around 10 a.m.

The driver, an adult, and a child who was also in the SUV were both ejected. Anaya said the two were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
